Who We Are
The Missouri Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association reflects the interests and concerns of its members. It promotes professional excellence and integrity in an environment which supports the diverse interests and practices of its members throughout the state. The Chapter advances these goals through various programs and activities.
Twice a year, it provides high level continuing education at affordable prices to its members at its annual convention and at its weekend workshops. It promotes professional and personal interaction through its monthly “Meet & Greet” meetings held throughout the state. It promotes coherent regulation of the profession through legislative efforts in Jefferson City. It provides timely information about the changes in the profession, legislation, educational opportunities, and other activities through its quarterly newsletter and through its web page.
It educates the community at large through its Massage Therapy Awareness Week activities, and through the efforts of it Sports Massage Team (which also provides members a chance to enhance their skills and add to their client bases). Founded in 1959, the Missouri Chapter has grown steadily from less than a dozen founders to a membership exceeding 1,200. That growth was recognized with the Chapter Growth Award at the 2007 AMTA National Convention.
